Department of SLS publications

Second Language Studies (formerly Working Papers in SLS)

Second Language Studies is a bi-annual publication of the Department of Second Language Studies. The series presents work in progress by faculty members and graduate students. Papers published in Second Language Studies reflect the focus of the Department\’s graduate curriculum, which emphasizes the integration of theory and practice in the belief that practical questions and solutions in language teaching should be accountable both to theory and empirical testing. Papers in Second Language Studies have the status of “progress reports” and, in many instances, are published subsequently in revised form. JD Brown has been editor of the Department of SLS working papers since 1994. Second Language Studies is available on-line.

Occasional Papers

The Occasional Paper Series ( 1985-1994) made available selected theses or scholarly papers written by students in the department. The series was a supplement to the departmental publication, UH Working Papers in Second Language Studies (formerly UHWP in ESL; see below). It is no longer active. We hope to make electronic copies available in the near future. If you need a copy of a specific issue, contact slschair@hawaii.edu.

SLSLetter

The Department of SLS published  a hard copy newsletter, called the SLSletter, once or twice a year, till recently. We expect to move to an online format and restart this as an online publication during 2013-14.
