Gerriet Janssen

Formerly a ski-instructor, river rafting guide, and Outward Bound instructor, Gerriet has been working inthe field of ESL since 2000 in many capacities: tutor, writing and pronunciation instructor, researcher (language testing, academic writing, curriculum development), translator (Spanish to English), simultaneous interpreter (Spanish to English), curriculum developer, and program coordinator. He has presented at conferences, seminars, and workshops in five countries on four continents, and is beginning to publish his research. Above all, he is excited to be combining his experience from his home university, Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia), with the theoretical knowledge he is learning as a PhD student at the University of Hawai‘i in the field of Second Language Studies.  When not studying, you will find Gerriet outside hiking, snorkling, diving, and otherwise enjoying Hawai‘i.
