Emily Lee (李文曦) joined the Department of Second Language Studies as Program Specialist in September 2013. She assists the Department Chair and Graduate Chair with evaluation of programs, fundraising and development, alumni relations, graduate admissions, and student development. Supporting the Undergraduate Coordinator, she also identifies opportunities for internships and practical experience for SLS undergraduate students. Emily serves as SLS Job Officer and is content manager of the departmental website.

Over the past decade, Emily has worked as editor; translator; ESL/EFL teacher for children and adults; and assistant coordinator in a public K–12 Mandarin-English dual immersion program. She holds a BA in Linguistics from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an MA in Second Language Studies from UH Mānoa. She is proficient in Mandarin, French, and Spanish, owed to the generosity and kindness of ‘ohana whom she met while living in Taiwan, France, and Colombia.

A generation 1.5 immigrant from the outskirts of Taipei, Taiwan and Boulder, Colorado, Emily has a hard time shaking her wanderlust but feels most at home in Honolulu. She is also an aspiring ceramic artist and can be found volunteering with the Hawai‘i Potters’ Guild.
