Director's Message

ALOHA AND WELCOME TO THE SCHOOL OF ACCOUNTANCY

Aloha to all of our friends and alumni. It is my great pleasure to serve our students and my colleagues as the Director of the School of Accountancy for the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawai‘i. The School of Accountancy has played an important role in educating students for careers in their field of study. Half of the State of Hawaii's CPAs are graduates of our program, and our graduates hold leading positions not only in Hawai‘i, but also in the US mainland and throughout the world.

Our curriculum and classrooms continue to incorporate new developments in the fields of accounting and technology. Our emphasis on the quality of education as well as our integration of entrepreneurship and international business (East-West focus) into the curriculum have been noted by U.S. News and World Report since 2001. State-of-the-art learning facilities and small class size (about 30 in upper division undergraduate courses and 40 in graduate classes) create an environment conducive to learning.

UH School of Accountancy degrees are accredited by the AACSB International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), the premier accrediting agency for schools of business and accounting throughout the world.

In addition to the School of Accountancy's extensive course offerings, students enjoy social, academic and professional development activities through student organizations, study abroad programs and internships. Our state’s mild climate provides many opportunities to explore Hawaii's natural beauty. We are just minutes away from Waikiki, downtown Honolulu and major cultural centers.
