COMMUNICATION SCIENCES AND DISORDERS Program Statement on Accreditation |
NOTICE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC
October 4, 2007
The Council of Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language
Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association
(ASHA) has placed the Master Science degree track in Speech-Language Pathology
at the University of Hawai'i on "Accredited-Probation" status. The Master
of Science degree track in Audiology is no longer accepting students and has
closed effective December 31, 2006.
Accreditation from the CAA and ASHA is
sought voluntarily by education programs that offer graduate degrees in speech-language
pathology, audiology, or both, which are designed for graduate-level students
entering the professions. Any program that holds the status of "Accredited"
or "Accredited-Probation" is still considered to be an accredited program.
The duration a program is placed on "Accredited-Probation" status is for one
year. If compliance with the accreditation standards is not demonstrated within
1 year, accreditation will be withdrawn.
