Below is information regarding departmental awards.
The Department of Speech Outstanding Graduate Student Award
Selection Criteria:
This award seeks to recognize academic excellence, departmental citizenship, and/or outstanding research leading to a conference paper(s) or publication(s).
Eligibility:
A student is eligible for the The Department of Speech Outstanding Graduate Student Award if the student is a full-time classified Speech graduate student. The student must have a minimum 3.8 GPA (overall and in Speech) and a Nomination Form from a fellow graduate student and/or faculty member.
Selection Procedure:
The faculty member and/or graduate student can submit a Nomination Form to the Awards Committee based on the criteria listed above until the deadline indicated by the Award Committee.
Award:
The recipient has her or his name placed on a permanent plaque displayed in the office of the Speech Department. The recipient receives $100.00 cash award.
The Department of Speech Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award
Selection Criteria:
This award recognizes outstanding achievement in teaching.
Eligibility:
Graduate students who are teaching undergraduate courses in the Speech Department. The award is based on outstanding performance in the classroom, evaluations from the course director and from students, display of creative and innovative teaching practices, and service to the course (e.g., sharing teaching ideas, providing assistance to other teaching assistants and to the course director).
Selection Procedure:
The course director will submit a Nomination Form to the Awards Committee based on the criteria listed above until the deadline indicated by the Award Committee.
Award:
The recipient has her or his name placed on a permanent plaque displayed in the office of the Speech Department. The recipient receives $100.00 cash award.
