Dr. Krystyna S. Aune is Professor and Interim Associate Dean in the College of Arts & Humanities.  She earned her doctorate from the University of Arizona in 1992 in Communication.  At Illinois State University, she earned her bachelor’s degree (in Psychology - 1985) and  master’s degree (in Communication - 1987). 

Dr. Aune has been a member of the University of Hawaii since 1991.  She was formerly the Director of Graduate Studies and was appointed the Department Chair from November of 2004 until August of 2007.  Dr. Aune’s research examines emotional expression in romantic relationships, jealousy in different types of relationships, cohabiting couples, and how couples negotiate the division of household labor. 

Dr. Aune has taught courses on Interpersonal Relations, Family Communication, and Theories in Speech Communication, among others.  She was awarded the Board of Regents Medal for Teaching Excellence in 2003.
