hibiscus Selection Criteria:
This award recognizes students who demonstrate potential for success in one's chosen profession/career and who is actively engaged in University and/or community activities.
hibiscus Eligibility:
A student is eligible for The Oscar & Rosetta Ramsey Fish Scholarship in Speech if the student is a full-time classified UHM sophomore, junior, or senior (with one or more semesters remaining at the time of application) who is a declared Speech major. A minimum 3.5 GPA in Speech and a minimum 3.2 GPA overall is required.
hibiscus Award:
Each recipient receives $700.00 per semester for tuition and books for two consecutive semesters, providing the student is enrolled full-time and is in good academic standing.
hibiscus Selection Procedures:
The Awards Committee of the Department of Speech shall determine if an applicant meets the basic criteria of academic excellence. Each applicant who meets the minimum GPA criteria will be required to complete and submit an application for the Scholarship (see below). The applicant will then participate in a 15-20 minute informal interview with the Department of Speech Awards Committee. The interview will focus on the selection criteria. Applicants should be prepared to discuss their qualifications for the award. The committee will determine which applicant(s) best meets all criteria. In the event the committee determines that no applicant clearly meets the criteria, no scholarship will be granted for that year.
