The Department of Speech Service Award

Selection Criteria:
This award recognizes students whose service to the field of Speech Communication has been meritorious. These contributions may include, but are not limited to, excellence in service related to speech communication to the Department of Speech, at the University, and/or in the community.

Eligibility:
A student is eligible for the The Department of Speech Service Award if the student is a full-time student at UHM, majoring in Speech, regardless of undergraduate class standing (freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior)

Award:
The award pays $250.00 for UHM tuition for one semester, providing the student is enrolled full-time in good academic standing, and the funds are available.

Selection Procedures:
A Nomination Form for this award may be submitted by faculty member(s) in the Department of Speech, undergraduate students, or self-nomination. Each nominee will be asked to complete and submit a Nominee Information Form (see below). The committee will determine which nominee(s) best meets all criteria. In the event the committee determines that no nominee clearly meets the criteria, no award will be granted for that year.

Deadline for 2008-2009 Award Nomination Form: February 18, 2009

Deadline for 2008-2009 Award Nominee Information Form: March 4, 2009

Notification of Award:
The chair of the Awards Committee shall notify the nominee(s) of the Committee's decision within three weeks of the Nominee Information Form deadline.
