A. Electronic Full-text
1. Check ePOI - browse or search through the biomedical electronic resources of Hamilton Library and Hawaii Medical Library simultaneously. This includes subscription-based and free e-journals, e-books, databases, and websites.
2. Check Hamilton's Electronic Resources - search or browse by title or subject. This includes e-journals and databases.
3. Check the HML E-journals list.
4. Check the HML E-Journals+ (additional titles) list for journals included in databases such as Academic Search Premier and ScienceDirect.
5. Search PubMed. There are 3 versions of Pubmed that will link to full text articles.
Hamilton's PubMed link - change the results display to "abstracts" to see what's available online and in print via Hamilton.
If searching from off-campus, click on the "off-campus access" link. You will be prompted for your UH ID barcode (must register UH ID for library use at Hamilton first).
HML's PubMed link - change the results display to "abstracts" to see what's available online and in print at HML. Please note: this excludes full text journals available via OVID.
HML's OVID link - you will see what's available via OVID, but not the electronic resources available from other vendors. However, you can click on "Catalog Holdings" to search HML's Voyager catalog to see if the print title is available.
B. Print Journals
1. Check Voyager online catalog to see if a title is available in print at UH or HML.
University of Hawaii Libraries' Voyager Catalog. This will retrieve items from all libraries in the UH System.
Hawaii Medical Library's Voyager Catalog.
Search UH and HML's libraries simultaneously. Select "Libraries of the University of Hawaii" and "Hawaii Medical Library" by holding down the Ctrl key (PC) or Shift key (MAC), and clicking "connect."
Type in the journal title name and select "journal title", then hit the "search" button.
2. Check the JABSOM Library Resource Center Journal List for print suscriptions. This list includes newsletters not found in the Voyager Catalog; however for standard journals, the Voyager catalog is the most up-to-date.
3. Check the Union List of Serials of the Hawaii Pacific Chapter of the Medical Library Association, available at the Reference Desk of various libraries. This offers a master list of journals and what libraries subscribe to them.
4. If not available locally and the article is needed, consider an interlibrary loan through Hamilton Library.
There is no charge for this service for UH Manoa students, faculty, and staff. The cost of the loan is subsidized by Hamilton Library.
