STRATEGIES FOR LOCATING A SPECIFIC JOURNAL ARTICLE

A. Electronic Full-text

1. Check ePOI - browse or search through the biomedical electronic resources of Hamilton Library and Hawaii Medical Library simultaneously. This includes subscription-based and free e-journals, e-books, databases, and websites.

2. Check Hamilton's Electronic Resources - search or browse by title or subject. This includes e-journals and databases.

3. Check the HML E-journals list.

4. Check the HML E-Journals+ (additional titles) list for journals included in databases such as Academic Search Premier and ScienceDirect.

5. Search PubMed. There are 3 versions of Pubmed that will link to full text articles.

Hamilton's PubMed link - change the results display to "abstracts" to see what's available online and in print via Hamilton.

If searching from off-campus, click on the "off-campus access" link. You will be prompted for your UH ID barcode (must register UH ID for library use at Hamilton first).

HML's PubMed link - change the results display to "abstracts" to see what's available online and in print at HML. Please note: this excludes full text journals available via OVID.

HML's OVID link - you will see what's available via OVID, but not the electronic resources available from other vendors. However, you can click on "Catalog Holdings" to search HML's Voyager catalog to see if the print title is available.
