Dr. Brown Trickey was only sixteen years old when she became involved in one of the most pivotal acts of the American Civil Rights Movement. We have a highly diverse faculty who are excellent instructors, researchers, and practitioners. The summer of 2007 has been exceptionally busy for us. We sponsored the first Indigenous Social Work Conference and over 400 people came from Hawai?i and the Pacific Basin, Asia and North America. We had great opportunities for exchange and profound discussions about the meaning of indigenous social work practice and research. We also launched our distance education program that offers an MSW degree opportunity on each of Hawai?i’s neighbor islands. Recently, we established a Training Academy to address the social service training and evaluation needs in Hawai?i and the Pacific, and established Ha Kupuna, a federally-funded research center on Native Hawaiian elderly. There is much that is happening at our School of Social Work as we are expanding and moving into areas that are topical and socially relevant. We hope that you fin      ");
