Message from the Dean

Aloha,

Welcome to the University of Hawaiʻi, School of Social Work website. We appreciate your interest in our program. Our School is one of the premier social work programs in the Pacific and Asian Region. We are renowned for our multicultural curriculum and our programs are designed to reflect global issues and social change, indigenous perspectives, and methods and practices focusing on Pacific and Asian cultures. We have a highly diverse faculty who are excellent instructors, researchers, and practitioners.

We are moving forward in the area of distance education and expect to offer an MSW degree opportunity to each of Hawaiʻis neighbor islands in the near future. We are planning to establish a Pacific Center on Aging and Research that will focus on the critical aging issues in our region. We are also establishing a Training Academy to address the social service training needs in Hawaiʻi and the Pacific.

There is much that is happening at our School of Social Work as we are expanding and moving into areas that are topical and socially relevant. We hope that you find our website and our programs of interest.
