Hawaii Algebra Learning Project
Strategies
The Hawai'i Algebra Learning Project has developed Algebra I: A Process Approach, a beginning algebra program that stimulates students to think. Instead of showing students how to do calculations, the course challenges them to devise and test their own strategies for solving problems. The program is based on findings of research into the difficulties students have in learning algebra.
