6th Annual Student Sustainability Summit: Saturday Feb. 10, 2018

Hosted AT KILAUEA MILITARY CAMP – VOLCANO, HI

Students will learn from each other about ways of thinking, being and doing that will support them to be more effective in enacting positive change wherever they are at, with whatever resources they have.

This year’s Student Sustainability Summit will focus on peer-to-peer sharing of lessons learned from student-driven waste reduction initiatives under way across multiple UH campuses in 2017.

STUDENTS WILL LEARN:

How to engage effectively with campus leadership
How to initiate a zero-waste policy campaign at your campus
How to conduct a campus waste audit
How to develop a zero-waste plan

An short film overview of concepts of the circular economy movement with a group discussion.


11:00AM | ZERO WASTE WORKSHOP

This interactive workshop will cover the core concepts of the zero waste movement, and its implications for climate change mitigation and institutional change.  


12:00PM | BOX LUNCH

Garden burger w/ vegan carrot & celery sticks, fresh fruit & drink


1:30pm | CAMPUS WASTE AUDIT HOW-TO

Hands-on workshop that will empower participants to audit the waste stream on their home campus

2:15PM  | Personality Quadrant Exercise

Identify your personality style and how you work best with other people.  


3:00PM | ZERO WASTE PLAN + ENGAGING CAMPUS LEADERSHIP

This session is engineered to empower students with a framework for approaching zero waste on their home campus.


4:30pm | CLOSING Circle

7:00PM | VISIT Jagger MUSEUM AND Hale maʻumaʻu Crater  CRATER
