The Announcement tool not only provides a way for you to post a notice to your students/participants about important changes to deadlines, meeting times/locations, but can also be used to send out new/updated files and URLs. New/updated files can be uploaded as an attachment to an announcement. The announcement not only gets posted in your Laulima site, but can also be sent out as an e-mail using the E-mail Notification option. The Announcement tool can also be used as a mailing list. If you use or have used a mailing list for your class to notify your students/participants of important information, Announcements can serve this purpose.
How do I send an e-mail announcement to my entire class?
-When creating an announcement, click the "Add Attachment" button.
- Click the "Browse . . ." button to select a file on your computer. You can also type in a URL or copy and paste the URL from a web page. If you have a file in your Resources area, you can also attach a copy of the file to the announcement. Once your attachment(s) is uploaded, click the "Continue" button.
*Note: There is a size limit of 60MB per upload.
-Once the attachment has been added, click the "Add Announcement" button.
*NOTE: You can send new announcements to your students/participants as an e-mail to their UH e-mail accounts by using the E-mail Notification option. The e-mail will include the file attached to the announcement. If you use or have used a mailing list for your class to notify your students/participants of important information, this function can also be used for that purpose.
High - All participants: E-mail notification will be sent to all students/participants
Low - Only participants who have opted in: E-mail notification will be sent only to those who have left their account settings to receive e-mails for low priority notifications. Where in Laulima can I find this setting?
None - No notification: No e-mail notification will be sent.
