UH-Information Technology Services (ITS) will be offering summer sessions on issues and pedagogical strategies surrounding the design, creation, and delivery of Internet-supported course materials.

TALENT 101 (scroll down to view Description, Schedule and Registration information)

Description :
TALENT 101 is a prerequisite for TALENT 102.  This online course introduces faculty and staff to the world of online teaching and learning. TALENT 101 was specifically designed to provide the experience of being an online learner in preparation for teaching an enhanced (some Internet component alongside face-to-face contact) or total web-based course (completely online with no face-to-face contact with students).

The course specifically provides a student-view of Laulima (the University's online course management system) which can be applied to pedagogical and methodological issues related to developing and designing one's own online course.

 

TALENT 101 Schedule :
June 15 to 26 (approximately 6 hours per week). This online course is available 24/7.

TALENT 101 is the prerequisite for taking TALENT 102.


TALENT 102 (scroll down to view Description, Schedule, Registration information and access the Application form)

Description:
The tools used to conduct TALENT 101 will be featured in these sessions, with presenters covering why the tools were chosen and demonstrating their operation.  Laulima will be highlighted as it is the course management tool supported by ITS.

The sessions will be held via interactive television, which can be attended at the following sites:

Kauai CC
Maui CC
Molokai Ed. Ctr.
University Ctr. - West Hawaii

TALENT 101 is a required prerequisite; applicants will automatically be placed in that online portion if needed

TALENT 102 Schedule:
July 14, 16, 21, 23    1:30 - 4:00 PM

TALENT 102 is the prerequisite for taking TALENT 201.


TALENT 201 (scroll down to view Description, Schedule, Registration information and access the Application form)

Description:
These sessions will feature online tools that can be used to compliment the teaching and learning experience.  Topics include Laulima tips/tricks, Halawai (a webconferencing system), StudyMate (a tool which creates study games/activities), and the application of social networking tools (like Twitter, Facebook, Blogger) in a course.

The sessions will be held via interactive television, which can be attended at the following sites:

University Ctr. - West Hawaii

TALENT 102 or teaching on Laulima for at least one semester is a required prerequisite.
