| DESCRIPTION: |
Maintenance on the Manoa wireless network will be performed to enable broadcast traffic on a trial basis to selected buildings.
Broadcast traffic on the wireless will allow the use of Bonjour for the iDevices and other broadcast protocols on the Manoa wireless network. Broadcast was disabled long ago due to the slowdown on the wireless but the new design of smaller networks may reduce the impact. Carving out the smaller network zones will require authentication using the login page when switching between wireless zones, but this does not impact devices that are registered for MAC address passthrough (see http://www.hawaii.edu/wireless/pt/ ). The wireless broadcast zones are as follows: Zone 1: Bilger Hall, Bilger Addition, Hamilton Library, Keller Hall, Paradise Palms, & Physical Science Zone 2: HIG, Holmes, all Krauss, Kuykendall Hall & Annex, MSB, POST, Sakamaki, Student Health, & Watanabe Zone 3: Admin Svcs, Bachman Hall & Annexes, Campus Center, Hemenway, Miller Hall & Sinclair Zone 4: Architecture, BusAd, Crawford, Dean, George, Hawaii Hall, QLCSS, & Saunders Zone 5: All Dorm Aruba APs If you experience problems, please report them to the ITS Helpdesk at 956-8883 or email help@hawaii.edu. |
