DESCRIPTION: Adobe released security updates (APSB14-26) for Adobe Flash Player which provides additional hardening against CVE-2014-8439, which was mitigated in the Oct. 14, 2014 release (APSB14-22). [1]

Since this security update was released out-of-band, i.e. not in the normal patch schedule, users should take heed and update their Adobe Flash Player at their earliest convenience. Although there are currently no known exploits, historically Adobe Flash Player has elevated risk.

The Flash Player security updates are for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

Please update your Adobe Flash Player to the recommended version as soon as possible.

You must update Adobe Flash Player for each web browser that is installed on your system, eg. Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.

Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0.223 and earlier (Windows) ==> Flash Player 15.0.0.239
Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0.223 and earlier (Mac) ==> Flash Player 15.0.0.239 (non-Chrome)
Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0.223 and earlier (Mac) ==> Flash Player 15.0.0.242 (Chrome)
Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.418 and earlier (Linux) ==> Flash Player 11.2.202.424

Flash Player installed with Google Chrome will automatically be updated when you update to the latest Google Chrome version (39.0.2171.71), which will include Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0.239 (Windows) and Flash Player 15.0.0.242 (Mac).

Flash Player installed with Internet Explorer 10/11 will automatically be updated (when you run windows update) to the latest Internet Explorer 10/11 version, which will include Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0.239 for Windows 8.0/8.1. [2]

To Install Adobe Flash Player Update (Firefox):
1. Close all applications.
2. Ensure that you are logged in with an administrator account.
3. You may need to temporarily disable your anti-virus program.
4. Open your web browser to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
5. UNCHECK "Free McAfee Security Scan Plus", "Free Google Toolbar" or "Google Chrome".
6. Click "Install Now" button.
7. Save file to your hard drive. Double click on file to run it.
8. Click Install button.
9. Follow instructions on the screen.
10. When the installation is complete, open web browser to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ to confirm the version of Adobe Flash Player that you are running. You may need to restart your browser.
