Areas of Study
The Department of Theatre and Dance is organized into focus areas of study that complement the Departments mission and reflect the expertise of the faculty. Both the academic program and the full season of productions aim to expose students and audiences to works from each of these focus areas.

Asian Theatre
Internationally recognized, the Asian Theatre program provides the scholarly study of Asian Theatre as well as creative performance of Asian theatre forms such as Jingju, Randai, Kabuki, and Kyogen in English with an all-student cast.

Western Theatre
The Western Theatre program combines the academic disciplines of theatre history and theory and training in the areas of Acting, Playwriting, and Directing.

Design
Scenic, costume, and lighting design are all addressed in this comprehensive program. Students are also able to study design techniques for Asian Theatre forms.

Youth
Theatre
A well-balanced program in theatre and dance for
young audiences and families. |

Dance
Ballet, modern dance, and Pacific-Asian dance are all covered in this unique program that takes advantage of its location in the Pacific basin.
