Komodo dragons, weedy and leafy sea dragons and starry dragons will be brought to life with actors, puppets, music and magic. Adapted from the new children’s book Kraken-Ka, The Komodo Dragon by internationally acclaimed authors Jodi Parry Belknap and Tamara Montgomery with illustrations by Joseph D. Dodd.

This unusual adaptation of Shakespeare’s most musical and magical play is about a sorcerer and dethroned Milanese duke (Prospero), who has been banished with his daughter Miranda to an enchanted island.
Guest artist Larry Reed fuses Balinese and Elizabethan elements with his hallmark shadowcasting method, which utilizes a giant screen and live performers to create a magical shadow theatre performance. The production will also feature live musical accompaniment by the UH Balinese Gamelan Ensemble under the direction of guest artist I Nyoman Sumandhi.

This newly worked twist on Carlo Goldoni’s The Servant of Two Masters, with material from Molière and commedia dell’ arte tossed in, tells the story of a servant who mistakenly gets employed by more than one master and spends all his time trying not to get caught. Add to the mix a fiancé returned from the dead, girls dressed as guys, guys dressed as girls, a play within a play, and guest improvisers each night to keep things funny and fresh!

Written by Nobel Prize Laureate Gao Xingjian, Wild Man follows an ecologist into a small town deep in the wilderness of China. There he finds a forest being destroyed by logging, a group of newly arrived reporters caught up in a search for the yeti, and a town lost between tradition and modernity. The play examines small town life, environmentalism and media sensationalism.

Subtitled “The Life, Death and Resurrection of Pulcinella, who went to War for Love,” this commedia dell ‘arte production features Antonio Fava, a world-renowned master in commedia dell ‘arte, who is the son of a Pulcinella and father of another. On stage with Merve Engin, the two will give life to this great masked art form.
Event will be free and open to the public on a first-come first-served
