E ʻAuamo Kākou: A Shared Commitment to Improving Student Outcomes (Title III Part A FY 14-19)

This program captures the spirit of the Leeward Community College. The goals are to increase retention, success, and graduation rates among Native Hawaiian students by creating cohorts of developmental education students who want to graduate with their Associate of Arts degree in 2-3 years. Patterned after the “Going to Finish on Time” cohorts that were successfully piloted at Leeward CC’s Waiʻanae Education Center, the initiative involves a variety of wrap-around support services and block scheduling of classes to give students clear pathways to associate degrees. The grant also supports faculty course redesign and incorporates Open Educational Resources into courses as a way to reduce educational costs to students.
