What Student Services and Resources are Available?
University of Hawaii Bookstores

Order your textbooks online from the convenience of your own computer. Visit the University of Hawaii Distance Learning Outreach Bookstore webpage for more information and to order your textbooks online.

You may also order your textbooks by phone at 1-800-UH-BOOKS (toll free neighbor island and continental USA.) Phone orders will not be shipped until payment is received.

Textbook payments can be made by:

  • check (there may be a delay while the check clears.)
  • credit card (textbook can be shipped out right way if the card is approved.)
  • scholarship (please contact bookstore at 1-800-UHBOOKS)

Once payment is received, books are shipped via UPS 2-3 day delivery. If the check does not clear or the credit card is declined, the student is contacted via phone for an alternate form of payment. Students may want to provide an e-mail addresses as an alternate form of contact.

If a book is not in stock, it is back ordered and sent to the student immediately upon arrival at the Manoa bookstore.

The standard shipping charge for student orders is $6.00 for the first book ($7.00 effective January 2, 2002) and $1.00 for each additional book. UH bookstores absorb a portion of the shipping cost. After the second week of school, students who order sold out books will be charged shipping costs incurred from mainland delivery as well as local shipping costs.

Textbook Buy back:

Students may sell back textbooks at any UH campus bookstore. Buyback is done during final exams week (December and May). If a book will be used in a subsequent semester and the buy quantity is not yet met, a student can expect 50% of the new retail price. Once the quantity of a textbook has been met or if the text will no longer be used, the book may be bought back at wholesale price, depending on the wholesaler demand for the particular book.

NOTE:
UPS will not deliver to a P. O. Box; students must have a street address and an adult to sign for a package. Kona students have the option to ship their books to the UH Center, West Hawaii for UPS sign-off.
