General Instructions

Thank you for volunteering to present at EndUser 2007. The final conference program is now available on the conference web site. Please take a look at the section called Breakout Session Descriptions to find the day and time of your presentation. As we had to make a few last minute adjustments to the schedule, your day and time may be different than originally announced.

EndUser is just eight weeks away. We would like to encourage you to plan your presentation in detail now, so that you can meet the deadlines coming up.

Your Equipment and Software Needs (Deadline: March 19)

Please let your track coordinator know if you will need:
(1) any special equipment (other than a standard Windows XP PC) and a projector,
(2) special software (see the list of standard meeting room software and equipment), and
(3) an Internet connection.

Note about software: if you need an Ex Libris client that is a different version than the one on the list, you may bring it with you and the conference IT staff will help you install it on the meeting room computer.

Deadline for equipment and software needs: March 19.

Handouts (Deadline: March 26)

A presenter is expected to provide a handout for session attendees. Handout files submitted in PDF format will be duplicated by Ex Libris free of charge, if you FTP them by the deadline. PDF conversion utilities are available on the Internet if you do not have Adobe Acrobat. Do a Google search on "free pdf utilities" to find some of them. There are web sites that can convert your files to PDF, such as "https://www.pdfonline.com/convert_pdf.asp". FTP instructions are provided below. You may prefer to bring copies of your handout(s) with you or ship them directly to the hotel.

See the Instructions for Handouts and Presentation Files for full information.

Important: be sure your handout can be read easily. If you include Powerpoint slides on your handout, plan to include only two slides per page and not more than three at the most.

Deadline for handout file(s): March 26.

FTP Instructions

Please see the FTP instructions on how to FTP your files to Ex Libris. If you need assistance doing this, contact your track coordinator.

Your Presentation

We know you want to make the best presentation possible. Take a look at the Presenter's Tips web site for suggestions.

What's most important? Besides good content, concentrate on being heard and seen during your talk. Be sure to use the microphone provided in the meeting room. Even if you think you have a loud voice, there will be some people in your audience who do not hear very well. I know; I'm one of them.

Speaking of content, as this is the first year that the Ex Libris company is part of EndUser, it would be interesting if you could relate your topic to one or more of the Ex Libris digital products in addition to Voyager or other Endeavor products. If you can include any examples of how your topic relates to SFX, Verde, DigiTool, MetaLib, Primo, or another Ex Libris product, that would be great. Of course, it is up to you to decide what is appropriate for your talk given the time that you have.

Stand up when you give your talk and talk to your audience (avoid reading your talk from notes or the PC). Only the first few rows can see you if you stay seated. Be sure the content of any slides that you project on the screen is large enough to be seen in the back row. And test the colors you use on a projector at home before you leave for the conference. Follow the presenter's tips and you should have no problems.

Finally, please use your full session time. If yours is a 60-minute session, speak for 45-50 minutes and leave the remainder for questions. Your volunteer moderator will help you in that regard. Ask your moderator to give you a signal when your time is running low. Your moderator will also introduce you to the audience and help with any technical or other problems (not that there will be any!).

Post Your Presentation on SupportWeb

Keep in mind that you are expected to FTP your presentation file(s) to Ex Libris for posting on SupportWeb anytime between April 16-May 18. Making your presentation available on SupportWeb is a great way to share your ideas with those who cannot attend the conference and for those who want to review what they heard and saw during your presentation.

In closing, let me once again thank you for being part of EndUser 2007. We couldn't do it without you!
