Introduction
IntroductionEndUser, the annual meeting of the Endeavor Users Group, aims to offer Endeavor customers and Endeavor staff an opportunity to share information, experiences, best practices, and works in progress in a collegial environment. It is "a mechanism through which the users of Endeavor products can exchange ideas and explore issues of mutual concern" as required by the Endeavor Users Group By-laws (Article II). Thought provoking content is encouraged to insure an interesting and worthwhile program. Presentation proposals are reviewed and selected by the EndUser Program Planning Committee. Presenters may be required to modify their initial proposals or requested to conform to established EndUser program guidelines. Track Coordinators, who are members of the Program Planning Committee, provide a main point of contact for presenters who have questions. Track coordinators work closely with their Tracks presenters to meet deadlines, fulfill responsibilities, address any changes needed, handle scheduling conflicts, and otherwise help presenters prepare for their sessions. Presenters
Generally speaking, presenters do one or more of the following in their sessions, as appropriate:

Situations and applications described by presenters may vary from library to library and over time. Characteristics of the "Ideal" Presenter Is clear, concise, accurate, and honest. Indicates version numbers and software described. Indicates when content may be time-sensitive, e.g. features in development. Refrains from disclosing information that is confidential between a site and Endeavor, e.g., contract terms including pricing, contractual commitments, etc. Is aware that the EndUser annual meeting receives financial and logistical support from Endeavor, and that comments regarding competing products may be inappropriate. Is constructive when offering criticism. Uses humor and/or sensitivity when expressing strong convictions or addressing issues where there may be differing points of view. Understands that while presentation materials, e.g. slides and handouts, should be designed to enhance the presenters session at EndUser, it may also be desirable to design them so that they are meaningful when viewed on SupportWeb at a later date. Is a good listener. Responds in a timely way to all preparatory and final presenter stages: proposal, Track Coordinators questions or requests for revisions to presentations, rehearsals and attendance at presenters orientation session (as needed), delivery of presentation on-site, submission of presentation handouts for reproduction, and submission of session materials for posting on SupportWeb following EndUser. Presenter RequirementsA presenter is expected to: Confirm with respective Track Coordinator EndUser attendance by the date required by the Program Planning Committee. Present in the time slot assigned or work with the Track Coordinator to resolve scheduling conflicts. For poster sessions, be present in the poster session area at scheduled times. Work with the Track Coordinator to focus or modify a presentation when needed (e.g., if similar presentations are accepted, coordinators help to insure that content is complementary, and may ask speakers to co-present). Attend the Presenter/Moderator orientation at EndUser, especially first-time presenters. Start and end the session on time (with the help of the session moderator). Use visuals that can be read in a large room, if appropriate. Insure that screen shots are up-to-date. Provide copies of handouts for distribution at the session OR provide a single copy of handouts to meeting organizers by the reproduction deadline. Provide visual presentation and handout files, if used, in electronic format so that they can be posted to SupportWeb immediately after EndUser. Prominently display the presenters names, affiliations, and contact information, version number and name of software discussed, and date of preparation on handouts and materials to be posted on SupportWeb. Leave sufficient time to answer questions from the audience (with the help of the session moderator). How to Submit Your Presentation ProposalComplete the Proposal Submission Form by October 31, 2006 (for speaker sessions) or by January 31, 2007 (for poster sessions). Additional information for poster presenters is described in Poster Presenter Guidelines. Proposal acceptance notification can be expected by December 15, 2006, for speaker presentations and by February 28, 2007 for poster presentations. Criteria for Acceptance of ProposalsYour presentation proposal will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Clarity and focus of the proposal
Note: If the Program Planning Committee receives a large number of proposals, this may result in good proposals not being accepted due to the limited number of session slots available. Such presenters are encouraged to investigate regional meetings or to submit again the following year. Comments to Wil Frost, Chair, EndUser 2007 Program Planning Committee |
