    A. COA: UH Fight Song change presented by Martha Crosby. Words to the fight song:

      Here's to our dear Hawaii,
Here's to our Green and White.
      Here's to our Alma Mater,
Here's to the team with fight.
      RAH! RAH! RAH!
      Here's to old warriors calling,
      Here's to old battles
      won. Here's to Hawaii's victory,
      Here's to each valiant son.

The Chancellor has suggested that the last line be changed to "Here's to each valiant one." I hope that the Senate can be persuaded to endorse her suggestion. What she wants to do is create a campus consensus on this question before she proceeds, and she has therefore also asked the FAR to get the endorsement of the ASUH Senate.

Some background: the Music Department researched the ownership of the song at the same time they looked into the history of the other songs the band plays. The melody is under copyright. The words are not. As best anyone can determine, they were written by someone on our campus, but no one has been able to figure out precisely who. We're pretty confident we can revise these words as we please.

Aloha,
David Chin
