Communicate with the Senate

RESOLUTION FROM THE FACULTY SERVICE COMMITTEE RELATING TO THE INDEPENDENT MANOA FACULTY SENATE REPRESENTATION BY THE OUTREACH COLLEGE

WHEREAS the Outreach College has proposed to be independently represented in the Manoa Faculty Senate as a new Constituency, and

WHEREAS the Outreach College has missions and goals in non-traditional education including part-time students, certificate programs, and professional improvement programs that are significantly different from that of the College of Education; and

WHEREAS the Outreach College is presently a non-degree granting academic unit which services other degree granting colleges and schools, and

WHEREAS the Outreach College aids interisland programs by allowing students to earn certificates and credits, and

WHEREAS these roles of the Outreach College are different from that of the College of Education, and

WHEREAS the Faculty Senate Service Committee and the Senate Executive Committee have reviewed and endorsed the proposed independent representation; now

Therefore, be it RESOLVED that the Manoa Faculty Senate recommends the approval of the creation of the Outreach Constituency.
