Communicate with the Senate
Whereas it has been reported that a contract offer stipulating that nine and eleven month faculty appointments be paid over a nine month and eleven period respectively each academic year instead of the present twelve months, and
Whereas the reported offer also stipulated that nine and eleven month faculty appointments would then, under this proposal, accumulate nine or eleven month retirement credit each academic year instead of 12 months, and
Whereas the reported offer indicated that nine and eleven month faculty appointments would receive no health benefits for three and one month respectively between Spring Semester and the following Fall Semester at the end of each academic year.
Be it resolved that the Manoa Faculty Senate requests that President and Chancellor Kenneth P. Mortimer inform the Board of Regents of the University of Hawai'i and also state publicly his views on what the impact of this offer, would, if adopted, have upon the University of Hawai'i and State of Hawai'i.
