Resolution in Support of Dr. Noel Kent's Recommendations to the University of Hawaii Board of Regents

Whereas, our colleague Dr. Noel Kent, as supported by Dr. Joel Fischer, Dr. Amy Agbayani and others, has eloquently stated the critical fiscal and morale crisis at the University of Hawaii in his open letter to the Board of Regents, and

Whereas, the Board of Regents is charged with the ultimate responsibility of supervising and nurturing the University, its administrators, faculty and staff, and

Whereas, the Manoa Faculty Senate is the representative body of the faculty of the University of Hawaii Manoa campus, therefore be it

Resolved, the Manoa Faculty Senate strongly supports the intent of Dr. Kent's letter, which are to foster fiscal responsibility at the administrative level and investigate the use of University of Hawaii funds with the objective of increased hiring of faculty and staff and to keep student tuition at its current level.
