1. The draft minutes of the meeting of July 15 were approved.
2. Copies of previous job description and advertisement for Chancellor of Manoa were distributed. (Digital versions will be distributed in a day or two.) It was agreed that, if the Interim Chancellor is free (as the meeting will be devoted to the search for a permanent Chancellor) an additional meeting of Senate should be tentatively scheduled for August 31st. The SEC has yet to determine which matters need to be decided before a search can begin; SEC chair is urged to discuss with Interim Chancellor before first scheduled meeting (August 8).
3. It was agreed that at its first meeting with the Chancellor, the SEC will draw attention to the Senate's document on consultation, on the need to go through Senate, if appointments to committees are to represent the "voice" of, or consultation with, the faculty and the desirability of keeping a public and visible chart not only of how Senate resolutions are being dealt with but possibly also a chart of committees involving faculty that have been appointed (with our without the aid of the Senate).
4. The following appointments to GEC and general education boards were approved:
