The newly revised version of E.5.209 (Articulation Policy) has been referred to CAPP. The Subcommittee on Admissions will conduct the review.
There was lengthy discussion on the ramifications of revising the current course repeat policy. Much of the revision came about because of Banner's inability to implement the current policy. Revised policy is being formulated with input from CAPP, the administration and the information technology staff.
Twenty-two percent of courses listed in the current catalog have not been offered in the last four years. Memos will be circulated to all departments to review their course offerings and delete all courses that have not been offered in the last four years. These deleted courses would be "banked" and could be resurrected in a timely manner at a later date. There was also discussion on streamlining the course approval process.
The VCAA is recommending that degree programs that have not graduated students in the last five years be terminated. Departments and programs affected will be notified and given the chance to defend continuation of the degree slated for termination.
CAPP, the Committee on Academic Policy and Planning, is posting their meeting summaries to inform senators as well as the Manoa academic community about their deliberations.
