SUBCOMMITTEE ON ADMISSIONS
The status of the CAPP's Subcommittee on Admissions was discussed. The VCAA stated that he intends to hire an enrollment manager and cited the May 8th and 9th visit of the enrollment management consultants which may give CAPP and the administration a better view of admissions policy. He agreed to forming an eventual task force.
The effect of raising admissions standards was discussed and its effect on revenue and enrollment numbers.
There is also an anticipated faculty exodus in 2011 which will strain the budget.
There was Committee discussion about the status of the Subcommittee. It was decided that the Subcommittee will continue its work, eventually send proposals to the MFS for its approval, consult with the anticipated enrollment manager and engage the administration in dialogue over admissions issues.
SUPPLEMENTAL BUDGET UPDATE (VCAA)
The legislative vote on the supplemental budget was scheduled for this evening and there was good financial news for Manoa campus.
BIENNUM BUDGET UPDATE (VCAA)
The biennium budget was in consultation and defended at the System level.
WASC (VCAA)
WASC reviews are ongoing.
HOUSING DIRECTOR SEARCH
The search for a housing director is on and a list of candidates will be released shortly.
INTERDISCIPLINARY PHD
The Committee updated the VCAA on the status of the Interdisciplinary PhD proposal.
ENROLLMENT CONSULTANTS' VISIT
The enrollment management consultants will be on campus May 8th and 9th and will be meeting with CAPP on Monday May 8 at 11:15 AM. D. Port, K. Aune, P. Fujimoto and R. Bingham will be attending. Due to the limited time given to CAPP and others in this meeting, the Committee will be drafting a set of questions to be given to the consultants prior to the meeting.
SUBCOMMITTEE ON ADVISING
The 2006-2007 CAPP members will take the possibility of the formation of such a subcommittee under advisement in the fall of 2006.
