(approved March 13, 2006)
Chair Bley-Vroman called the meeting to order at 3 pm, with Kent, Lampe, Ramsey, Staff, and Tiles present. The SEC met with VC Ostrander from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and met with VC Smatresk from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Lampe was present later.
Standard Items: Minutes of the previous meeting were adopted. Bley-Vroman reported on the elections to fill a vacancy on the SEC and the regents' announcement concerning the appointment of a president. Committee liaisons reported from CSA (thinking about enrollment management and meeting with Konan and Iwaoka on March 14); CAB; COR; CPM; GEC (articulation); CAPP (meeting with VC Smatresk); and COA (graduation rates). The SEC certified the election of Sara Rutter to fill a vacancy on the SEC. Rutter will serve until the end of August 2007.
After some discussion, it was decided that Bley-Vroman and Tiles would testify to the BOR about their suspension of a national search for a new president.
It was decided to have the SEC meet with Bridges to understand the constraints and possibilities with electronic voting.
The SEC discussed having system offices at some location distinct from all campuses of the system.
It was decided that Ramsey would substitute for Bley-Vroman at Chancellor Konan's meeting of a Manoa council next day, while Bley-Vroman and Tiles were at the BOR.
It was decided to have two COIA representatives, one of which would be the FAR. Hopefully the other will be a member of COA.
