Chair Bley-Vroman called the meeting to order at 3 p.m., with Kent, Lampe, Ramsey, Rutter, and Tiles present. Also present were Rosanne Harrigan, Linda Cox, and David Chin, the leading candidates for SEC membership. After 4:00 p.m., the SEC met with VC Smatresk about numerous issues.
Standard Items: The review of minutes was postponed. Chair Bley-Vroman reported on UCP (managed by the president) and the upcoming Centennial (most likely a Manoa event).
The SEC confirmed a decision by email, to certify the election of Harrigan, Cox and Chin to the SEC.
The discussion with VC Smatresk was wide-ranging. He emphasized a great need for enrollment management and institutional research at the Manoa level. He discussed the debacle of the system (VPAPP) giving U.S. News and World Report incorrect information about Manoa. He described in great detail the current cycle of WASC review.
