Minutes: Approved

Library Update: $400,000 will be cut from the Humanities and Social Sciences acquisitions and $500,00 from the electronic Elsevier collection in order to address the mandatory budget reduction of 1 million dollars. This decision was made in consultation with VC Smatresk. A request was made to have Departments notified of titles deleted so that these could be purchased by Departments if deemed essential.

JABSOM Dean Search: No decision has been reached.

Legislation: Bills related to genetic modifications are dead. The conclusion was reached that more discussion was needed.

Policy on Classified and Proprietary Research: A lengthy line by line discussion of Draft 2, April 2007 was led by Dore. The revised policy is attached. This policy will be circulated by email for comments from the Committee. Roy will then forward to UHARI for comments. Another meeting will be scheduled if needed in an attempt to send the document to the Senate for the last meeting of the year.
