Mānoa Faculty Senate CAPP Meeting Minutes
April 1, 2009, 3:00 p.m., Hawaii Hall 208

1.
Proposal to Establish a BS/Computer Engineering Degree
a.
This new degree replaces the current computer track of the BS/Electrical
Engineering degree, with the addition of one course.
b.
CAPP made the following recommendations to the proposal’s authors:
i.
Address how the program will be offered without the assistance of graduate
teaching assistants
ii.
Add a revision to address the current fiscal situation
Unanimously approval; resolution will be prepared for 4/15 meeting.
2.
Minutes of the March 4, 2009 Meeting
will be distributed shortly.
3.
Meeting with the Committee on Athletics
re: the admission of athletes. Chair attended a meeting with student affairs
and Athletics Department to discuss admission and retention of student
athletes.
4.
e-CAFÉ.
There are remaining concerns amongst committee memebrs. Chair will prepare a
memo to the SEC to document CAPP’s recommendations.
5.
Pick-a-Prof.
Liaison reported that ASUH has subscribed to Pick-a-Prof, the company is
requesting grade information for the campus. Chair agreed to work with
University Counsel and UHPA attorneys to prepare a response to Pick-a-Prof.
6.
TPRC.
It was suggested that the issue raised in committee be directed to the SEC
for referral to the appropriate Senate Standing Committee.
7.
Kapä Oliviera has agreed to be the Faculty Senate’s representative to the
Academic Procedures Committee for AY2009-2010.
8.
Chair will draft Closing Report and a memo for CAPP AY2009-2010 to
facilitate turnover.
