Mānoa Faculty Senate Executive Committee

Absent: Keil (traveling)

3:00 SEC meeting

1) Minutes of previous meeting were approved.

2) Chair's Report

Representations have been made to SEC concerning the forthcoming search for a new Director of the Cancer Research Center. SEC will advise that these can be brought up at Faculty Senate or even at the next Board of Regents meeting in the open comments section.

3) SEC discussed aspects of agenda items for the forthcoming Faculty Senate meeting.

4:00 Meeting with VC Quigley

(a) VC Quigley discussed the Chancellor’s proposed timeline for hiring an A&S Dean.

(b) VC Quigley opened the topic of a policy on spousal hire. Overall it was believed that no finalized policy exists on this matter, although some preliminary document may exist within the files of the Director of Human Resources.

(c ) A recruitment team headed by Prof J. Norris (Dept. of SLS) is being established to find a half-time faculty person to direct the Manoa Office of Assessment.
