Application Procedures for Undergraduate Studies

All students seeking admission to the Music Department must submit the UHM admission application (System Application Form) by the Admission Office's deadlines (see below). A printable form and instructions are available on-line at http://www.hawaii.edu/admissions. This application should be submitted directly to the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, Office of Admissions & Records, 2600 Campus Road, Honolulu, HI 96822-2385.

Please note that the date for Music Department applications may differ from that for general university undergraduate applications.

In addition to the above application and other information required by the UH Admissions Office, students seeking admission to the Music Department must also submit the additional items listed below by the Music Department's deadlines.

  1. Music Department Undergraduate Admission Application (pdf format)
  2. One Teacher Recommendation Form (pdf format)
  3. Audition recording or request for a live audition. (Those who have already auditioned should indicate on the Admission Application the date of the live audition and the name of the faculty member for whom they performed.)
  4. A copy of the completed University of Hawai`i System Application Form as submitted to the UHM Admissions Office.

International students who are not native speakers of English will be required to submit a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 500/173/61 (paper/computer/internet) or higher.

All music majors are required to audition for the music faculty. Although a live audition is preferable, we also accept high quality, unedited recordings from those unable to come to Honolulu for an audition. Please see the recording instructions on the Auditions page. Tapes will not be reviewed until the application is complete.
