Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Music (PBCSE)
The PBCSE is a post-baccalaureate certificate program for the preparation of school music teachers. It is designed for students who have a BA, or BM degree and wish to obtain initial basic teacher certification in music.
There are three possible tracks for the PBCSE:
To enroll in PBCSE, a student must have completed an academic content major appropriate to their proposed teaching subject and pass the PRAXIS Content Knowledge test.
Before applying to the College of Education, applicants must:
- have less than 9 credits of music core/education classes to complete (in addition to an undergraduate music degree)
- a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
- pass the PRAXIS I exam
- pass the PRAXIS II music content assessment
- complete a minimum of 40 hours of field experiences
- pass the Music Education Interview
