Opera Workshop

(Mus 415V)
Opera Workshop

The course is focused on the study and performance of scenes from opera, operetta, and musical theatre and culminates in the staged performance of these scenes with costumes, makeup, simple sets, and lighting effects. Occasionally a full-length opera is produced.

The culmination of the course is a public performance of the prepared scenes in Orvis Auditorium towards the end of the semester. These opera workshop performances have been received with great enthusiasm by the community.

Instructors of the course are John Mount and Laurence Paxton. Prerequisites: upper division standing or consent.
