Tahitian Ensemble

This course is designed to provide first-hand experience with the sound and movement systems of French Polynesia. Underscoring the concept of the dancer as singer, students will learn Tahitian dance-songs, Tahitian approaches to part-singing, and the fundamentals of `ori tahiti in addition to the study of representative music and dance genres, such as Ote'a and `aparima.
The instructor is Jane Freeman Moulin, a former professional dancer in Tahiti who was a member of the Temaeva and Tahiti Nui dance troupes.
