The pre-concert reception includes refreshments, a pre-concert talk, and a unique performance of Reich's Six Pianos. Your donation will benefit the UH Contemporary Music Ensemble.
The UH Contemporary Music Ensemble's concert presents an evening devoted to the music of American composer Steve Reich. Included on the program is Different Trains, a work for amplified string quartet and prerecorded voices. Guest artist Melanie Yamada will perform New York Counterpoint, a work for clarinet and 10 pre-recorded clarinets. Faculty and guest artists will join the ensemble in a performance of Eight Lines, for large ensemble.
