Performances by local percussion ensembles of all ages from Niu Valley Middle School, Kahuku High School, BYUH, UH Manoa, and the Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra.

The concert follows clinics on drum set and vibraphone by Noel Okimoto, Dalcroze Eurythmics for percussionists by Jordan Schifino, and ensemble playing by Rhythm Summit (Kenny Endo, Noel Okimoto, and Dean Taba).

Hear gamelan music from two neighboring Indonesian cultures - Java and Bali - as the UH Gamelan Ensembles present an evening of traditional and contemporary repertoire. The Balinese portion of the concert will also feature dance.

The UH Balinese Ensemble is directed by Made Widana. The UH Javanese Gamelan Ensemble, now in its 42nd year, is directed by Byron Moon, under the guidance of Pak Hardja Susilo, the ensemble's founding director. Ensemble members include UH music students and members of the UH and local communities.

Presented in cooperation with the Hawaii Gamelan Society.

After a full career as a musician and educator - 35 years at UH Music Department and 17 years with the Department of Education - maestro Miyamura leads the UH Symphony Orchestra in this finale concert before stepping down as their director.

Featured performers are Maya Hoover, mezzo-soprano, and pianists Jonathan Korth and Thomas Yee, all UHM Music Department faculty.
