The Hawai'i Institute for Contemporary Music (HICM) welcomes emerging composers and pianists from around the world to share in a week of exciting and innovative music making. One of the first institutes of its kind, HICM provides all participants with an intensive, in-depth opportunity to expand their knowledge of issues surrounding contemporary music. During the week participants are exposed to lectures, symposiums, and concerts presented by the faculty. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to take lessons from the institute faculty members should they choose to do so. Another vital part of this Institute is the piano competition, which provides a platform for talented high-school aged and college-aged pianists to broaden their experience, gain exposure, and compete for cash prizes. The Institute takes place on the campus of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, situated just minutes from the world famous Waikiki Beach. I invite you to take this opportunity to join us at HICM, exploring the music of today surrounded by the stunning beauty of Hawai'i.
