| Title | Description |
|---|---|
| Contact's Name and Phone Number* | Enter the name and phone number of the person who will be the primary contact for any questions or followup about the article. Typically, this will contain your own information. Use the format as indicated in the example |
| Contact's E-mail Address* | This should contain the contact's e-mail address, which may be used by visitors who are interested in obtaining further information. Use your full e-mail address. |
| Article Category | This popup menu allows a choice of categories, which defaults to the "General" category. Only if the article is very, very important should the "Important" category be used. |
| Highlighted/Targeted Campus* | Select the campus that the article would either highlight or be targeted towards. This will allow the campus name to stand out when viewed as a list. All articles will automatically be displayed in the main UH News, regardless of which campus is chosen; however (as an example) this could also be used to create a Kauai CC news page with only Kauai CC (and systemwide/public) news and leave out everything pertaining to the other campuses. "The Community Colleges" selection displays items from all the Community Colleges, the ETC, and systemwide. |
| Article Title* | This will be the title of your article. Note that because the "Highlighted/Targeted Campus" option above will automatically add the campus when listed in the main UH News page, please do not include the campus name again within the title. Please use p roper capitalization. |
| Optional Subtitle | This can be a subtitle of your article. It displays under the main title. |
| Article Synopsis* | This is the main text of the article. The goal is to be able to enter the article without the need to know HTML. You may type or copy and paste the text into this field. Paragraphs will be created by separating them with a blank line. You may use HTML to add some extra links or to do some simple formatting. |
| URL where users can find more information | Enter a URL if you would like to offer an alternate site for visitors to locate additional information about the article. This may be your department's site or other news site. Include the "http://" in the URL, e.g., "http://www.hawaii.edu/mydept/myarticle.html" |
| URL to Optional Graphic | If you would like to include an inline graphic image, you may enter the URL to its location here. The image itself would not be saved with the article, but would instead point to another location. This could be somewhere on your department's web site or on your personal web site. This image should be kept on the smaller size, fitting within a 300x300 pixel box. Any caption would need to be part of the image itself. If adding an image, be sure to fill in the ALT Text (see below). Include the "http://" in the URL, e.g., "http://www.hawaii.edu/mydept/myimage.jpg" |
| ALT Text for Graphic | This is alternative text (the ALT option in HTML) for the graphic which allows those who are visually impaired and are using special software to read a description of the graphic you are putting up in the previous field. It should be concise. Descriptive, but short. This will help the page to comply with standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) legislation. |
| Expire at | It is pre-filled with a default date (3 weeks) but if your article is something that is pertinent for a time less than that, you can change the expiration date and time. For example, if you put up news about some event that is happening on one day next week, the article may not be applicable after that day. You can use this expiration date so that the article does not show up after the event is over. All expired events will still remain in the archive, however. |
| Comments to UH News Manager | Any comments you'd like to send to the UH News Manager may be added here. |
| Preview button | By clicking on the Preview button, you may see what your submission will look like in its final form. If you notice any problems, you can use your BACK button to make the necessary changes and preview it again. When it is acceptable, you can use the Confirm button on the bottom of the Preview page. |
