As established through Board of Regent (BOR) Policy, the purpose of the UHSC is to advocate collectively and democratically for the interests and the needs of all students throughout the University of Hawai`i (UH) System.

Each month at least two representatives from each of ten UH campuses is encouraged to meet all day to discuss current issues and possible resolutions. UHSC members are active in representing more than 50,000 students with UH administration, the BOR, the Hawai`i State Legislature, and other apprpriate bodies. Knowledge gained helps each campus government to refine common issues and support both individual student governments and UH system goals.
