ILWU Athletic Assn. Bd. to Meet Sept. 30

The annual meeting of the board of directors of the ILWU Athletic ' Association held in Honolulu Monday, September 30, starting at 10 a.m.

The union's sports program and budget for 1958 will be adopted at the meeting. New officers for the coming year will also be elected.

Every island, including Molokai and Lanai, is represented on the board.

Guest speaker at the meeting will be Carlos Rivas, sports director of KPOA.

Current officers of the Association are: Eddie De Mello of Hilo, president; Richard Pang of Maui, vice-president; and Tasuku Yui of Honolulu, secretary-treasurer. The following are directors: Koichi Tamanaha of Molokai, Haruo Naka-moto of Kauai, and Shiro Hokama of Lanai.

p /> I do not say that at odd hours a patient must be given the regular hot dinner or supper. Few people would expect this.
But what is so complicated about opening and heating a can of soup, making some toast, or preparing instant coffee or tea? Why cannot a night nurse do these simple things after the kitchen to closed? Is it just too much trouble?

It is only common humanity to feed the hungry. If our hospitals are too big, too complex, too impersonal to do these small kindnesses for the sick, something is very wrong.
