Clergymen Protest Peacetime Draft

Washington — A group of more than a hundred clergymen called for protest against peace­time conscription by asking that Aug. 22, a week before the begin­ning of draft registration, be observed as a day of mourning and repentence [sic].

Among those issuing the call were Dr. Harry E. Fosdick, Methodist Bishop W. E. Hammacker, Episcopal Bishop "Walter Mitchell , and Dean Walter G. Muelder of the Boston U. school of theology.
