Scholarship winners

Kevin Weng of Hong Kong receives his MS in Oceanography (Marine Biology). His studies were supported in part by the Fernando Gabriel Leonida Scholarship. An endowment for the scholarship was established by Domingo Leonida, a mainland physician, as a memorial his father-a lifelong fisherman who donated many shallow-water specimens to the Waikiki Aquarium. Though he never attended school beyond the sixth grade, Fernando sent all seven of his children to private schools and three, including Domingo, to college. Leonida's youngest daughter Elena and youngest son Anthony both graduated from UH Manoa.
