The nation's ROTC commanding general will help commission University of Hawai'i program cadets from three universities at:
9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19
Guest speaker at the ceremony will be Major General Stewart W. Wallace, commanding general of the U.S. Army cadet command, based at Fort Monroe, Virginia. An Iowa native with numerous command and staff positions, especially in infantry and training, Wallace has received the Defense Superior Service, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and numerous other medals. Also attending the ceremony will be 150 Junior ROTC cadets representing 26 high schools from throughout the state. Six cadets will be commissioned as second lieutenants. They are: Richmond T. Casabar, of Waipahu, who is graduating from UH Manoa with a bachelor of arts in sociology. He will enter the Reserves in military intelligence. Robert M. Kam, a graduate of Camp Zama American High School in Japan, who is graduating from UH Manoa with a bachelor of science in civil engineering. He will enter active duty in military intelligence. Toni K. Sabo, of Ocala, Florida, who is graduating from UH Manoa with a bachelor of arts in teaching English as a second language. She will enter active duty in military intelligence. Hugo Afamasaga, of Apia, Western Samoa, who is graduating from Hawai'i Pacific University with a bachelor of arts in the humanities with a concentration in humanities. He will enter the Reserves in military intelligence. Kim Novak, of Lacey Township, New Jersey, who is graduating from Hawai'i Pacific University with a bachelor of science in nursing. She will enter active duty in the Army Nursing Corps. Serifina Sauia, Tafuna, American Samoa, who is graduating from Brigham Young University with a bachelor of arts in business management. She will enter the Reserves in the Engineer Corps. |
