Artfully adorned Asian costumes going on exhibit noon, on Monday, Dec. 7 Yukiyoshi Room of Krauss Hall University of Hawai'i at Manoa campus To explore the wide variety of surface design techniques used to embellish textiles from 1854 to the present time. The exhibit is free and open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8 through Thursday, Dec. 10. It will close at 2:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11. There will be 15 garments on display. All were prepared by students of the Textiles and Clothing Program in the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at UH. The historic costumes of China, Japan and Korea will feature the techniques of textile painting, application of gold foil, quilting, couching, applique, trapunto, resist dye methods and a multitude of embroidery. |
